Project ‘Roots. Memory of generations’ 2022-2023
29th of January, 2023
Today, the children of our parish participated in the project ‘Roots. The memory of generations’. They, together with their hosts in Romania, enjoyed browsing another page of Romanian history. The children learned more information about the Little Union, about Prince Alexandru-Ioan Cuza and about the beautiful legend ‘Ocaua lui Cuza’. By now we also know the meaning of the expression ‘caught him with the little measuring cup (a Romanian expression- ”caught him lying”).
We thank the teachers Adina Rodica Sabău, Viorica Banciu, Alina Drugaci, director Maria Ungur and especially student Rares Sabău who spoke so beautifully about the Little Union.
We can’t wait for the next meeting when we will talk about Mihai Viteazul.
20th of November, 2022
Today, children from our community had the joy to participate in the first meeting of the project “Roots. The memory of generations” organized by Bratca Theoretical High School, Bihor, a project taking place between November 2022 and June 2023. The aim of the project is to develop feelings of pride towards the historical past of the Romanian people, especially towards the heroic deeds of their ancestors.
It was a beautiful meeting in which our children learned so much about our ancestors, the Dacians: about how the Dacians lived, how they dressed, what kind of people they were and about the kings Burebista and Decebal. Our children had many questions about Dacian children, what they looked like, what they played with, how they communicated and much more.
We thank our guests, prof. Viorica Banciu, prof. Maria Ungur, inv. Alina-Bianca Drugaci and student Sarah Butiri for presenting this rich information so wonderfully and thanks also to director Anca Lucia for inviting us to be part of this project! We can’t wait for our future meetings where we will learn about the Little Union, Stefan cel Mare, Mircea cel Batran and many other legendary Romanian rulers.
We were very excited to discover that we also have a loom in Glasgow and our next activity will be at the home of Georgiana Velica’s, where Bogdan Ioan Amaicei will teach us how to weave!
